History:
George Carr Glyn (1797-1873) was the younger brother of Richard Plunptre Glyn. He became the First Baron Wolverton in 1869 and, like his father (Richard Carr Glyn, q.v.) was a very successful banker in the City. The Wolvertons occupied (in addition to Gaunts House, Wimborne) the manor house in Iwerne Minster, two miles south of Fontmell.
