Glyn, Richard George

Richard George Glyn (1831-1918), was the third baronet and the nephew of RP Glyn. He married Frances Geraldine Fitzgerald of Maperton House in Somerset in 1868. He was a Captain in the 1st Royal Dragoons and fought in the Crimean war at the battles of Balaclava and Inkerman. He is said to have been one of the first Europeans after Livingstone to reach the Victoria Falls in 1863. However he also maintained a keen interest in Fontmell and the estate was passed on to his son Sir Richard Fitzgerald Glyn (q.v.).
